Boldt contributes vendor huts for Christkindlmarket
The Christkindlmarket on Broadway is an outdoor traditional German-style holiday street market in downtown Green Bay that began in mid-November and concludes just before Christmas. And the market aspect of the weekend event wouldn’t be the experience it is without Boldt’s contributions.
That’s because several Boldt employees put their construction skills to work in designing, building and installing the Christkindlmarket huts last year. The huts – clustered in the Boldt Shopping Village – feature an assortment of vendors selling their wares during the market.
The open-air stalls, built as small wooden huts, add to the German ambiance for which Christkindlmarkets are known. They’re a major step up from the tents the Christkindlmarket on Broadway initially used to introduce the market idea to Greater Green Bay.
“We took it to the next level with these 8’ X 10’ huts,” said Tony Meeuwsen, Director of Business Development at Boldt.
Sixteen rotating vendors use the quaint huts to protect their items from the elements, selling everything from candles, to woodcrafted items, to seasonal items. Each hut bears the Boldt name above its entryway, providing great exposure for the company. In 2023, the market drew 32,900 visitors during the market’s 12-day run. The 2024 opening weekend in November drew more than 5,000 visitors alone.
“The market is such a fun way to get people downtown and boost sales for local vendors as well as the businesses nearby,” said Tony. “This is the second year the huts are on display, and they’ve been a tremendous success. We’re honored to play a significant part in this popular event.”
The Christkindlmarket on Broadway offers German-inspired food and drink, art workshops, igloo rentals, and more. It is open for select hours on Fridays and Saturdays until December 21. Learn more here.
